I’m a thinker. In this world we’re taught to figure things out and have a plan. When faced with uncertainty, we google to find the answer, ask people what they think, or gather more information. We put on our thinking caps to find the answer.
You know what I get when I put my thinking cap on? A big fat headache.
In this world we are taught to approach things counterintuitively. We go into action, race around in our heads, and try to think our way out of a problem, situation, or life event. We forget that there is another way. A calmer more peaceful way.
The intuitive path is not for the thinker. The intuitive path is for those willing to slow down and listen rather than trying to figure it out. It is for those who are willing to take their thinking caps off. What!? Yep, I said it. It’s about doing the opposite of what we are taught to do in this world. It feels strange at first to allow our actions to be Divinely guided.
Why?
Most of us have allowed our intuitive muscle to get soft and have overly defined intellectual muscles. We use those to muscle our way/think our way through life. We can shift that at any time. All it takes is willingness to slow down and listen and practice that in small/frequent reps.
One of the favorite parts of my job is mentoring people to do this. Strengthening my intuitive muscle has helped me feel less anxious. It has created more clarity in my life. A bonus benefit that has resulted is that I no longer clench my teeth. Seriously, I was a teeth clencher!
Are you ready to take off your thinking cap and see what happens? Fair warning, this decision will be met with inner resistance and is not for the faint of heart.
