Which Type of Burnout are You Experiencing?

In my last post, I shared the idea that we all tend to move through life in four different ways, as Thinkers, Feelers, Doers, and Builders.

And while that can help you understand how you process life…it also reveals something just as important:


Burnout doesn’t look the same for everyone.


In fact, one of the reasons burnout can be so confusing is because we often don’t recognize it in ourselves, especially when it doesn’t look the way we expect.


Let me show you what I mean by sharing how it looks in each of the 4 Pathways:


Thinkers (Mind / Swords)

Burnout here often looks like overthinking everything. You may feel stuck in your head... going over the same thoughts again and again, trying to find clarity but never quite landing on it.

It can feel like mental exhaustion, indecision, or even pressure to “figure it all out” before taking a step forward.


Feelers (Heart / Cups)

For Feelers, burnout tends to feel emotional. You may feel overwhelmed, drained, or like you’re carrying too much...your own feelings and everyone else’s. Sometimes it shows up as shutting down or feeling like you just don’t have anything left to give.


Doers (Action / Wands)

This kind of burnout often looks like pushing through… until you can’t.You may feel restless, frustrated, or disconnected from the very things that used to energize you. There can be a sense of “Why isn’t this working anymore?” even though you’re still doing all the things.


Builders (Foundation / Pentacles)

For Builders, burnout can feel heavy. Like everything has become a responsibility… something to maintain, manage, or hold together. It may show up as exhaustion, lack of motivation, or feeling disconnected from the purpose behind what you’re building.


So what do you do with this?


  1. Recognize where you are.

  2. Don't judge it.

  3. Don't try to fix.

  4. Just notice.


Because when you can see how burnout is showing up for you…you can begin to meet yourself in a different way.
