Clearing Out the Dust Bunnies

Spring has sprung, the flowers are blooming! It’s that wonderful time of year when we open the windows, clear out the dust bunnies, and suddenly remember that yes, we do in fact own a soul and it’s been collecting emotional clutter like it’s prepping for a yard sale in 1998.
Welcome to Spiritual Spring Cleaning: because sometimes your chakras just need a good mop.
Here are some tips to get you started:
1. Declutter Your Vibe
You’ve got energetic baggage. Like that one argument from last week or 2017 still rattling around your head like a ghost who overstayed their welcome. Time to Marie Kondo that sh*t.
Ask yourself:
“Does this grudge spark joy?”
“Do I still need to spiritually stalk __________ via Facebook or Instagram?”
If the answer is no, thank it for its service, and sage it out of your life.
2. Smudge Like You Mean It
Grab your sage, palo santo, or favorite spray from the local hipster apothecary. Then walk around your home and smudge every corner while using affirmations like:
“I banish thee, weird energy from my living room!”
“No negative vibes past this point unless you’re bringing snacks.”
“Cleanse this couch where I’ve cried while rewatching The Notebook for the 11th time.”
3. Clear the Emotional Junk Drawer
Everyone’s got that one emotional junk drawer — the one where you’ve shoved all your “I’m fine!”s, awkward moments from 2009, and unprocessed trauma in a tangled ball of denial.
It’s time to sort through it. Light a candle, make a playlist for saying Bye! Bye! Bye! to those Dust Bunnies and dance.
Journaling can be incredibly helpful. Write what you’re feeling and don’t edit it. Don’t send it either! — sometimes our inner child just wants to be heard.
4. Update Your Affirmations
If your go-to affirmation is still “I am calm and centered,” but you screamed at your slow Wi-Fi yesterday, it’s time for a refresh. Try these updated classics:
“I am at peace… unless Mercury is in retrograde.”
“I radiate abundance, especially when near a charging station.”
“I release what no longer serves me — including expired condiments and toxic friendships.”
5. Rearrange Your Soul Feng Shui
Move stuff around. Not just your furniture, but your perspective. Maybe it’s time to stop aligning your chakras with your stress schedule and instead, align them with naps, hydration, and an emotionally supportive group chat.
You’re not just refreshing your home; you’re rebooting your spirit — think of it as Control+Alt+Delete for your entire vibe.
Spiritual spring cleaning doesn’t have to mean spending hundreds on crystals or howling under a full moon (unless you’re into that, in which case, howl away). It’s just about checking in with yourself, sweeping out the old nonsense, and making space for better energy, better habits, and hopefully fewer existential crises before breakfast.
We’re all beautiful balls of stardust with some baggage. Let’s go forth and cleanse!
