Kindness Matters

I believe that Spirit is always communicating to me. The question is, am I always listening? The honest answer is no. But when I am, I feel connected and in the flow. I become aware of the myriad of everyday ordinary miracles showing up around me.

In the last blog, I wrote about my BFF’s visit. So many of those everyday ordinary miracles happened throughout the week. I’d like to share one that stands out. On the last day of her visit, we were taking a walk on the beach. While walking on the beach we had talked about my heart’s desire: to be in a loving and committed relationship. We both agreed that her visit had been part of my healing process. Getting to witness the fun and loving connection between her and her husband as she looked forward to speaking with him on the phone each day showed me that relationships like that were out there. Spending a week connected at the hip without one argument had proven how easy it was to share my space with someone. That success bolstered my belief in being able to succeed in a relationship.

On our way back to the car, Spirit chose to send me a sign as well. I saw something in the bushes. I reached in, thinking it was trash and that I would get it and throw it away. Imagine my surprise when it turned out to be a quilted heart. It reminded me of a Valentine’s Day card that I had always dreamed about getting as a little girl from the boy I had a crush on. It felt like Spirit’s way of confirming that a relationship was on its way in.

Even the way I initially approached the heart was symbolic. I have this fear that a relationship will just be something that I have to throw away anyways so why bother? And it showed me that it was my belief that was trash and that there can be hidden treasures that I am not even aware of.

The other cool thing is that this quilted heart is part of an entire global random act of kindness movement. People make them and leave them in places for others to find. The website has all of the stories from those that find them, a worldwide map to see where they have been found, and a way to join in making and leaving the hearts for others to find. CLICK HERE to check out the website.

What a beautiful movement these quilted hearts have created in the world. The other lesson that Spirit reminded me of through this experience was random acts of kindness can change a person’s entire day.
